Re: Turbo Sliders - plans for the near future

Strange. Are you sure this is updated to the latest version? As far as I know, this game don't have a demo anymore, it´s free to play. I read on the documentation how to mod the game, even how to make total conversios of it. And it was written by the author. It's in the docs folder. Why would the a...

Re: Turbo Sliders - plans for the near future

(Whip is making me post this because apparently he can't find this information) As far as I can tell it's pretty explicitly disallowed by the license agreement that comes with the game itself: You may freely distribute the demo version of the product by any means (internet, ftp- sites, magazine cov...

Re: Old F1 car - I'm looking for

We had several versions of similar cars, I think this is the final one:

In case you're also looking for tracks, you can find a lot of those here:

Up.
Also, thanks Whippe for supporting it 3 years ago already.

Re: "Could not initialize race" error - can anyone help?

Hey - I looked at your files and it seems that Turbo Sliders does not support the image format that "springspatch.png" is saved with, and apparently my editor does. (Windows Photo Viewer cannot open it either) I'm not sure exactly what's wrong with the file, but you could try saving it with a differ...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

Fun race that was, partly thanks to me forgetting to set my startfuel. Well bloody done, me. With that 11% less fuel, Oompa was about as fast as myself, and very consistent as well, making for a very challenging race for both of us. And yes, with 3-4 laps to go I was really scared that I couldn't ca...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

(not sure if you were just asking others to reply, or also me) 1) blocky car positioning in curves as defending move: + it's challenging for the defending car + it's challenging for the (re-)overtaking car + it's fun for people who love to fight for positions To me, none of these really apply, even ...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

Tried to search a video example, but I only found these words from 4:39-4:48 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnnR6ubhrHg Closing the door on the inside in a way to force the car behind to brake or steer to avoid a crash, seemed to be a valid defending move in curves to me, so far. In the past...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

Well, I personally think being deliberately late on the throttle with the intention to hold up the car behind is questionable at best and quite lame at worst. :) In any case it's not a move I would choose to do.

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

I nearly forgot Maggy x Is 5% that big a difference T? Big enough that it meant I was struggling to fight off Jurgen instead of trying to put pressure on Mike. In lap 9 J was right on my ass, and at that point I had the choice to lose time battling him for a while longer, or make a gamble by pittin...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

Really sad that I had to "win" the race due to a disconnection in the last 2 laps. Mike, to me you were the rightful winner yesterday, for what it's worth. Still, I had my own share of problems, starting with a certain white-yellow car that took a total kamizake line through the first turn and damag...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

I made a new safer version of the track, because the old one pretty much guaranteed massive pileups in the race. Unfortunately that means that every qualifying lap driven until now had to be invalidated, I hope that's not too big of an issue.

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

Magnam: should we let him race like this? Those first laps he is much faster on straights, but only on straights. Also, since he's not gonna do the whole race, probably doesn't care much of damage. Yep, I disagree with him doing this too. The stats say he didn't have too many collisions but having ...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

And regarding the next race, we probably should use Silva's server, just to be safe. We are still having the ocasional lags, sending us into safari mode. Agreed. I still have trouble believing it's directly caused by the LVP server, but fact is that it does happen for whatever reason, and there's n...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

This was probably my best starting position in a Formula 1 race ever, 6th I believe, and more amazing is the fact that i didn't run a single qualifying lap at all! Just you guys know how brilliant i am. Someone said it was a bug but that is probably just jealousy. Nice, well done! You can thank Ayr...

Re: Things that would be cool to see...

Sounds sick. But, lines should also be variated. Well, if you can generate 1 lap then you will also be able to generate 20 different ones. Hmm, I just thought of a project that might not actually be completely impossible: take a track and a path that needs to be followed, and programmatically gener...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

Seriously, I'm in for some sort of competition later today! We can use Silva servers Can we? I took Silva servers down (at his request) when I brought back some of the LVP ones. But sure, we can use those instead. For what, I'm not sure. I made some balance changes to my "default" car pack so I wou...

Re: Things that would be cool to see...

I agree that it would be cool to see, but it's not compatible with the way the game works. Every AI lap has a list of nodes with car states at various points, which the game tries to follow exactly - that is, it looks at the position, speed and rotation it needs to have at these nodes and adjusts it...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

lets face it, he did mention constructive critisism ( It is the only car race game where the fastest lap is "playing" with the grass. The car is fantastic but that is very disappointing.) And he was 100% correct there, but ironically enough the person he went on to congratulate was the only one wit...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

I saw a possibility of roughly closing the door there by moving fast to the right, but in the end, I wouldn't have any serious chance vs that pace with so many laps to go, I think. You probably could have blocked me, but that likely would have caused a collision and at the very least you would not ...

Oh yes, lots of battles indeed! But we really brought that on ourselves, didn't we? Nah, let's just go with the explanation that me and Mike got a stop and go penalty for cheating in qualifying. Really interesting to make our way to the front like that, unsurprisingly Lewy was the one who gave me th...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

Given the preciseness of the game, cutting the grass feels kind of sad. Maybe we could make the grass more unforgiving. We could also increase damage maybe? Cutting won't be useful during the race already. When tyre wear is enabled, driving over sand, grass etc. damage your tyres up to 20x more tha...

Re: Formula 1 Grand Prix #2

We could forbid to cut on grass (for the race and even for the qualification, if you want). T would have a 1.19.06x, me currently a 1.19.165 or so - so it would not change anything. Not sure about other players though. Maybe let's vote for future races, Elemtere including, if grasscutting etc. is a...
