KRT#1 - Knockout Racing Tournament

PostFri Feb 06, 2009 12:28 pm

What is this cup?
The competition is a knockout tournament with pairings for each round (One on one racing with default cars). First round drawn at random. Unreleased track which will be published week before this tournament starts, so everyone can get some practise. Player from each pairings who have faster overall time after 5 races will continue to the next round... No medals, only winner gets "Champion"-title!

Who can join?
Everyone is welcome, room for 16 players. Use this topic to sing in!

When?
Registration deadline is 15.2.2009. Round#1 starts 23.2.2009, each pairings has to finish their races 'til 1.3.2009 GMT 23.59...so you have week to complete first round. Track will be published 16.2.2009!

How does this cup work?
Track: New, published week before start
Laps: 10
Cars: Defaults, each car driven once
Mode: Ghostmode
Starting Order: Conversed
Points: No points, only faster overall time continues
Server: Each pairings can host their private servers or ask someone to host
* NOTE! Complete each round races (all cars) in a same day *

Send your round#1 result to my mail: petri.jaatinen@hotmail.com (KRT#1 & Winner name) You can also use Private Mail at this site

If there is something more you want to know about this tournament, dont be afraid to ask...

Example:

First Round
P1: dede vs etana
P2: tijny vs olio
...
P7: scud vs lux
P8: maunokasa vs riq

Quarter Finals
QF1: dede vs tijny
...
QF4: scud vs riq

Semi Finals
SF1: dede vs winner QF2
SF2: winner QF3 vs riq

Final
dede vs riq

dede champion!

Each round will be based on overall totaltime (NOT FASTEST LAP!!! WHOLE RACE TIME!!).
Example: scud vs riq
scud wins all cars except antislider by 0.1s each (scud leading by 0.4s)
riq wins antislider by 0.5s -> riq wins the round by 0.1s!
riq advances to next round..

OK now! Thanks.

The tournament style it's very interesting but there's something too much complicate for me, expecially about this point:
Server: Each pairings can host their private servers or ask someone to host

Send your round#1 result to my mail:

It could be possible to spend a lot of time just for meet your opponent and set up server for a single round.

I pass.

Instant Messengers are a nice shortcut (if you don't want to use MS, there are other IM's like Trillian, where you can keep in touch with MSN contacts without having it installed).

I dont see this tournament is complicated...actually it is really simple. Messenger is easiest way to contact with your rival, so it would be nice if competitors could post their MSN-addresses here.

That could be quite interesting.
Personally, id hope that the number of wins would count, instead of the sum of the overall times, but anyway...its ghost race 1on1, so..im in.

Hmm, shouldn't the player amount be like 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and so on? Or how does the cup work, if it's 1vs1 and the winner continues and there's eg. 10 players? Maybe I just missed something on the text, but wanted to make sure :)

Otherwise you could make a "qualifier", and the seednings would be made out of that. So if there isn't 4, 8, 16, 32 or so ever, the best would just have a bye round.
In my new website you can find my tracks and cars!

Hope you will enjoy!

Yeah, i have think about qualifier too, maybe i will add that on KRT#2...

*** I changed max-players to 16, it would suck if we have something like 26 players after deadline, need to delay tournament start or kick 10 players to get 16 ***

Yes Scud, you are right.
It's just a my problem. I absolutely don't want a messenger on my PC, expecially if it comes from MS. Only Skype is installed, but usually it's off.
I do the same with cell-phone... most of time it's switched off :?

Count me only if you have to reach the right numbers of players and... to reduce problems, put me in the first round against dede or another player that can set up a server and easily kick me out

At this moment (and maybe forever) a PM on this forum it's the only way to contact me.

I think its wrong way of thinking if some players skips this tournament only because they know they dont have change to beat dede or some other top-player in a first round... Anything can happen. I dont see me beating dede, etana, mikenike but i dont care, I can still give my best shot. So just sing in Lux!!! :D :D :D

 yeah... I only can sing..!!!
I'm joking. I've understood u mean sign.

It's not a problem for me to play against dede or other player faster than me.
I know my skills... :? I like to play more than I like to win.
It's really an organization problem. I play some minutes every day just for fun.
I like spend an hour to play after dinner or before sleeping but I have no time (and no will) to contact players, take according on time, set up a server, etc.
In Italy we say "volere la pappa pronta". It means something like "to want that all is easy and ready".
And it's not so because I'm lazy...

Let me know if you need me to reach the 8/16/32 number and be sure that, if this will happen, I would not surrender at first round (although it would be better for all).

I haven't had much time lately, and the situation is not likely to change soon. But, this cup doesn't take that much time, so count me in too :) I'll give my contact via PM to the one I get paired with after the dravings.

Hello Scud!

Well... I might sign up. :?
All I don't like is that I have to contact you and tell you my results. I find contacting by PM much easier than email. So...? :?
