for future reference - being really drunk does not help!
Re: SL Dakar 2015: #4 Edition
Well that cup was... demanding! I'm kind of disappointed that I wasn't really able to defend my chances due to technical issues, but then, everybody will have had their share of bad luck. Congrats to Mike, he showed remarkable consistency after his poor first stage, with a whole heap of second places. Although knowing him a little bit, he will not feel like he truly won, but he really deserved it for keeping so cool in the final stage after an impossibly close battle with Wokinger. I would like to do this again some time, even if just for fun.
@Mike (or anyone):
Do you have a video of my disconnection-lolcrash-ragequit incident from stage 9 I believe?

We should make a new rule: if sb gets disconnected he has reduced his stage time by time he lost.

I like where this is heading to.Wokinger wrote:We should make a new rule: if sb gets disconnected he has reduced his stage time by time he lost.

I'm not sure I understand correctly - how do you measure how much time is lost by the disconnection?Wokinger wrote:We should make a new rule: if sb gets disconnected he has reduced his stage time by time he lost.
Maybe a better rule would be to drop everyone's worst result: i.e. determine in which stage they lost the most time to the winner (percentage-wise), and give them the same time as the winner there.
Funny, I just checked my own recordings and it's exactly the same as yours - even though I can't remember that crash at all, and couldn't even remember it one minute after the race! See, that's how demanding this cup was for me.Mike Nike wrote:cut of the scene:

Time from the moment your car stopped after disconnection to the moment you connect again. It would be possible once or twice per rally. In that way you won't have advantage if you diconnect by yourself after error.Tijny wrote:I'm not sure I understand correctly - how do you measure how much time is lost by the disconnection?Wokinger wrote:We should make a new rule: if sb gets disconnected he has reduced his stage time by time he lost.
I don't think so. Raid like Dakar is not short rally. It demands consistent and making no mistakes. I don't like your idea, cause it's not how it works in rally like Dakar.Tijny wrote:Maybe a better rule would be to drop everyone's worst result: i.e. determine in which stage they lost the most time to the winner (percentage-wise), and give them the same time as the winner there.
Re: SL Dakar 2015: #4 Edition
But that would have to be determined after the rally is over? Or is the judge going to go through recording with timer while others are waiting at server for results and next stage? In theory im with this, cause it sucks that whole race gets ruined by that sort of technical problem.Wokinger wrote: Time from the moment your car stopped after disconnection to the moment you connect again. And I hope Wokinger posts official results + server recordings at some point.

I made a small recap of the rally with some clips from recordings.
SLD4_01:
Most shocking thing at opening stage was poor perfomance from Mike. It seems he was wearing wrong glasses and couldn't see the road properly.
In this clip you see some of Mike's driving. Clearly not his usual quality driving:
Mike_Nike_01
SLD4_04:
We are discovering one of the (many) weaknesses power79 is having.
You can watch yourself if his driving was worse than normally:
power79_vs_Shyguy_04
SLD4_05:
On this stage there were one specially dangerous spot. Luckily no one was injured and everyone was able to keep racing. Tinjovic even got pretty good result considering his misfortune. Power79 was not as talented.
Trap_05
SLD4_06:
Very dramatic turn of events. Leader Tinjovic lost his consciousness at very close of the finish line and ended up losing at least 40 seconds. Possibility for victory was gone, but luckily after medical examination he was allowed to continue the rally. Power79 just kept whining about having to actually race against someone in competition.
In this clip you can watch how power79 fails again to drive under pressure:
power79_vs_arsen36_06
SLD4_07:
Tinjovic keeps up his spirit by dominating next stage. Even freaky accident with pawlew132 doesn't keep him from being clear stage winner.
Here you can see this dangerous situation. Amazingly no one got hurt and even damage to cars was minimal:
Tinjovic_jumps_pawlew132_07
SLD4_08:
Long jungle stage had very close battle between Mike Nike and Wokinger. And their gap in overall rally is even smaller, amazing. Power79 just keeps having the same excuse for his poor perfomance.
Power79 struggling with Szymek and Mike:
power79_vs_Mike_Szymek_08
SLD4_09:
Mike think its funny that Tinjovic keeps having unlucky accidents but when he hears that it was due to another loss of consciousness he stops laughing.
Tinjovic keeps racing even it is clearly risking his health:
Tinjovic_crash_09
SLD4_11:
Tinjovic keeps dominating stages as Mike and Wokinger are having epic battle for victory of rally.
SLD4_12:
Same story, total dominance by Tinjovic. Mike having an accident is keeping gap close to Wokinger.
Small accident by Mike, but rally is still in his own hands:
Mike_Accident_12
SLD4_13:
Same familiar trio again at podium. Wokinger fails to catch Mike and so Mike Nike is the champion!

Re: SL Dakar 2015: #4 Edition
Just read that recap, nice
So, with pts-based cup (and maybe one where only top 90%+ results count), i just assume Tijny would have won.
Still, one of the coolest cuptypes in TS
