Guys, this race was awesome imho.

I had a lot of fun fightin against my buddy Carlos, then a great multiple fight with him and Bruno (i mean, Bruno has a discutible driving style but whatever).

Will with a magic strategy overtook both me and Carlos on pit passing from 3 to 2 pit stops. Grats Will, that was awesome!

Mention also for my fights with Wurz in first laps and with Jaws during all the race.

My best race for sure I am so happy of my improvements... but i see we have lost some players and maybe with them in I strike 23 or lower place in qualifications.

Grats to T and Badee. I am shocked how Mike has not won a race yet. Following him i noticed he was a little nervous, after lapping me he made one or two mistakes. But i think that was only concentration: probably with all position locked he was not on fire as if he had a car to get in front of him.

award for unluckyness of the race: lema - can't belive it you went in a spin at first curve.
Bruno award of the race: Bruno - man you mantain your name so high... Bruno The Butcher

I was indeed a bit nervous, fearing to mess up the races of the cars i was going to lap....and i probably did :(

My race was somewhat boring though... and the only time i got a bit adrenalin was after pit stop 2, trying to hunt a fast lap. But i failed :D ...although at least 7 laps i was the fastest in the field. But none of them were really strong :(

Nice. As I suspected when I watched the videos last night, we are not close to the limit yet; combining the best elements of those 3 laps could lead to a 1:20.4 or perhaps even faster. So Mike, you know what to do!

I do checkpoint analysis to improve my own driving and taking all laps that I have from you(Tijny,Mike,Badeend) gets the best combined 6-checkpoint time of 1:20.336. Going down to 3 checkpoints for more realistic possible time gets: 1:20.542.

Unfortunately my screen froze in the first corner again :x :x :x and i had, like about 5sec or so, time to analyze my approach to the first corner. :D :D This is, i think, my fifth consecutive race in DIV1 that i got hit in the face by lag in the first corner of the race. Im getting used to it to the point that im considering to learn how to drive first two corners blindfolded.

Apart from that, im happy with my progress, my best lap times are getting closer to the guys in front of me, but i have to work on my consistency in the race.

It's probably your computer that's causing this. Maybe try different settings next time. I remember having hard lags in some old competition when I had the HUD on so maybe keeping that off for the first corners would help.

Meh :D

Well, i just finished the sectorPB/REC livestats implementation for my 3D Replayer.
Looking at a 39 lap race (local), nonfuel, i got the result: 1.20.956 as fastest lap, but the sum of the fastest 6 logic sectors were 1.20.569. Logic sectors are selfmade checklines (so: also diagonal!), placed ~3.5 kerblengths (1 kerblength = where the color changes) short before the braking/gasrelease points after a long enough straight. So: nothing can be "cheated". So: just to be safe, i did not split sector 6, where you can a) skip an apex on purpose, b) brake or not and c) sandcut or not.

So, even i sucked in my performance, it is nice to see that i still could catch a miracle lap. Unfortunately i did not drive each sector superstrong in these 39 laps yet, so...1.20.569 is certainly reduceable.

In theory i could create an output at some soon point, hopefully, which shows some kind of % to reach a certain laptime in x 6 lap races, based on the sector performances in a long local attempt.
I.e. if i hit first 5 sectors >90% <0.010s to each sectorPB, it wont matter, if i suck in sector 6 so much, that i will be driving 98% of the cases +0.300s to the sectorPB(6).

Edit:
another 20 laps and with a 1.20.955 only i improved 2 sector records -> 1.20.460 at least reachable now for me^^
Maybe i just cut these sectors together in my 3D Replayer and show it in 1 "optimal lap video".
But...just watching also the slow sectors kinda helped, checking how fast the good sandcuts sectors are (+0.08ish or worse) ..and if you should go for the hairpin or not in the upper left part (seems yes) and if you should go for the hairpin in curve 1 (seems not) or drive a more 180ish half circle curve style...

Edit2:
I imported the 6 lap race with the 2 .7 laps by me and T. T drove 2 sector records there and Bade drove 1.

Tijnys first lap (which looked sick, but...)
divided in 6 sectors; difference to sector records:

+????? (correct Sector 1 time in lap 1 not yet detectable)
+0.140
+0.155
+0.049
+0.148
+0.271
-----
+0.763

1.24.7xy -> so... 1.23.9xy possible wtf etc!
and....1.24.4ish is circa the pendant to a 1.20.7ish, you gonna see now:

13.510 (+0.100)
11.380 (+0.028) (+0.128)
15.117 (+0.089) (+0.217)
13.026 (+0.104) (+0.321)

13.448 (+0.038)
11.484 (+0.132) (+0.170)
15.142 (+0.113) (+0.283)

60ish laps and only 20.9? That's a bit disappointing to me, I'm hoping it's because you were focused on collecting data and not so much on driving great laps. I'd be interested in a breakdown of my current lap record (1:20.583); particularly the last two sectors should be far stronger than in my .722 lap. In the first sector though, I lost a bit of time due to crappy entry speed and some minor offroading.
I also did a 1:24.480 opening lap yesterday, and I agree that's roughly equivalent to a 1:20.7.

Main focus were collecting data, but ~20 laps i tried, but failed. So..still a disappoint^^

13.496 (+0.102 to later driven REC) [and slower than in the 1.20.722 lap]
11.346 (REC)
15.084 (+0.055)
12.979 (+0.057) [slower]
05.779 (+0.051)
21.901 (+0.069) [slower! oO]
---------------
1.20.586 -> 0.4154% to the new reachable -> 99.585% sickness reached :D (99.367% me, 99.292% bade)

Sector Records Update:
13.3939 Tijny (REC -0.0158)
11.3463 Tijny (REC -0.0059)
15.0289 Mike
12.9225 Bade
05.7282 Tijny
21.8328 Tijny

1.20.2526 (new reachable)

Edit:

Sector Records Update:

13.3804 T
11.3463 T
14.9694 T
12.9174 T
05.7282 T
21.7794 M (maybe 21.7534 T)
-----------
1.20.1211 oO (maybe 1.20.0951) pff^^

1.20.491 -> 0.4616% to the new reachable (T messed a .400ish in last sector, i messed a 450ish in last 2 sectors ...and billions of .5/.6 laps...or 5-10, almost the same)

Edit 6548:
logic Sectors are these:
http://mikenike.bplaced.net/public/ts/t ... ore_v3.png
(you can replace your own 4KT_Flakemoore_v3.png with that file and see it ingame)

Edit 5234235:
Note: because the first sector were based on a crappy driving line by me, the sector still needs some adjustments.
While Tijny drove a 13.38, i only kept on reaching 13.40-13.41, usually 13.46, often rolling out early, getting a 13.49-13.56 followed by a lot of 11.38-11.42s though. I hit a .40/.41 combi once, i think...and some other in the .8 zone, so...the mistake caused by the too late placed checkline aint be a big one.
Tijny made his one a bit early though, as checkline 4. I'll fix that earlier or later, though..if it gets more important

Updated Flakemoore Top-3 Merged video:

Flakemoore_Top3.tsr
Tinjowitsu-san 1:20.492
[x] Mike Nike 1:20.661
Godlike Jurgen 1:20.797
Poor Jurgen was almost in record pace until getting wide in two corners at the last sector.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is also best sector times from all recordings that i have from you guys. My sectors(1-3) are finish line and end of the two long straights. Almost same as in Mike's image but I didn't choose the exact spot so carefully.

Checkpoint 1:
4KT_Flakemoore_v3_CP1(Tijny).tsr
Tinjowitsu-san 24.483 sec. Enter Speed: 254.9 Exit Speed: 297.8
4KT_Flakemoore_v3_CP1(Mike).tsr
[x] Mike Nike 24.489 sec. Enter Speed: 253.9 Exit Speed: 297.5

Enter Speed record (@finish line) is 255.8 by Tijny but normal "wobbling" laps seem to be around 254.0-254.8. Without wobbling highest I have found is 254.2 in one of my own training laps. Mike also has 254.1 but I didn't check every lap so there could be better ones.

For Exit Speed I have one 298.8 but mostly fastest ones seem to be around 298.0-298.4. Maybe they are not with ideal line though as both Tijny and Mike have slower speed at the end of their record times.

Checkpoint 2:
4KT_Flakemoore_v3_CP2(Tijny).tsr
Tinjowitsu-san 27.204 sec. Enter Speed: 297.6 Exit Speed: 275.9
Line seems funny at the beginning but I guess it's the fastest way? Either that or rest of the sector was totally superior to any other.
Exit speed seems quite good. I found some 276.8 ones but those were not driven on "ideal" line. Fastest with normal line could be Jurgen's 276.0 on his record lap.

Checkpoint 3:
4KT_Flakemoore_v3_CP3(Tijny).tsr
Tinjowitsu-san 28.634 sec. Enter Speed: 275.7 Exit Speed: 250.5
This happened on Tijny's record lap. Funny that Exit speed is only 250.5 when he instructed me to focus on getting good exit speed on last turn(jk, that tip was helpful, thanks for it).

So, those would give optimal time of: 1:20.321. You can lower that by dividing track to more checkpoints as Mike has done, but I think that optimizing 3-checkpoint lap is more realistic goal.

One more update. No comments for last post but looking at the many improvements done in qualification maybe these did help at least someone.

Flakemoore Top-3 Merged video:

Flakemoore_Top3.tsr
[x] Mike Nike 1:20.482
Tinjowitsu-san 1:20.492
[+] Badeend 1:20.636
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also updated couple new sector records.

Checkpoint 1:
4KT_Flakemoore_v3_CP1(Mike).tsr
[x] Mike Nike 24.411 sec. Enter Speed: 255.3 Exit Speed: 298.3
This was done at Mike's record lap. Both enter and exit speed are very good. Good job, Mike!

Checkpoint 2:
4KT_Flakemoore_v3_CP2(Tijny).tsr
Tinjowitsu-san 27.174 sec. Enter Speed: 296.8 Exit Speed: 276.3
Low entering speed but exit speed is super.

Badeend also broke last record so I include it here
4KT_Flakemoore_v3_CP2(Badeend).tsr
[+] Badeend 27.189 sec. Enter Speed: 297.8 Exit Speed: 276.2

Checkpoint 3 record still holds(28.634) and I don't see anyone getting even close so you better study that one.

The most important i took out of last (now 2nd last) post, was...that the "wobbling" is most likely beneficial. Before i was uncertain, if the steering might weirdly reduce the acceleration a bit...due to the new car properties and all, which i havent checked all yet.

Competition was great. I just hope that I would have learned to drive decent first lap or even first corner at some point. Again tonight at start when Silva got really close I panicked and decided to slow down a bit and of course I slowed down way too much and chaos ensued. Sorry to everyone I caused trouble, but at least you all got to overtake me. Again.

After that there was some aggressive battles as I was really frustrated when I felt at least 1 second/lap faster but couldn't find a way to overtake. I hope I didn't make anyone too angry there. Luckily my early pit tactic helped to rise a few positions when I finally got to drive some clean laps.

Participation rate was also great. I was really suprised how many active players there still are. Too bad some quit after few races (dede,Wokinger,Oompa...).

@power
your startlap! :D
I was coding the 3D Replayer to create auto highlights for races. But meanwhile i do not know, if just creating a comedy show about "which player ruined power79s race the most, this time?" might be more entertaining :D

The race

0.080 Badeend turbo start, sicker than normal. I could or should have closed the door, but there was not that much space to squeeze in behind Tijny without risking a touch.
Overtaking (kinda accidently) Tijny in stint 1 and turtling in front of him with a position defending line ...came in quite handy for Badeend. I felt sorry and wondered if i should let Tijny pass or not, because i might not be able to catch B, but T can still fight for first. But then i thought: hey, maybe if i fight for 2nd place, i get lucky and make a 2nd place :D...
I expected Tijny to pit early, trying to overtake me that way. Kinda wanted to pit early as well, but did not want to accidently pit in the same lap as Badeend, due to pit traffic reasons. Seems i have an overall solid first or 2nd place in average pitlaps, with Carlos...over the season.

So, T was on a 12/15/16 strategy, B was on a 14/12 (too early?)/17 and i had 15/13/15 stints. I was going for 15/14/14, but saw a car to lap coming up, so i went 1 lap after Tijny.

The 2nd stint was a bit of a time trial, as Tijny said it right.

Stint 3 early on, the usual hunt for the fastest lap looked promising for B...for about 2 seconds. Then T crushed it. I tried, but failed. Long time it looked a bit hopeless, with B leading by 2 sec and T leading 2 sec in front of me.
The sky dropped at some point though, so T and B got closer to me and to each other, causing them to battle and me profiting from their time loss.
Sky cost Badeend ~1.2sec + damage and Tijny indirectly ~0.6sec + slight tyre damage.

In the last lap, Tijny did not defend on the inside and basicly let me pass easy as a bit of a gift, giving me the opportunity to catch B with the faster car.

In fact, as a bit of a defending move, i positioned my car at the apex before the long 2nd straight (or 3rd, counting in the startstraight) in a way that Tijny has trouble overtaking me without bumping into me -> so, yeah, i slowed down a bit more than usual there. It came to a collision and a comfortable little boost for me. Bade also did not defend inside (probably because he was already steering to the right) and let me the easier door open.

My 3rd stint pace was quite good, compared to my local test race - it felt actually a bit easier than normal to drive constant fast in this track.
Anyways, it felt very funny in the last curves, realizing that B can't reach me anymore and i'm gonna win the race.
A slight bit of happiness as well, although of course it did not feel like the fastest driver won. Imo that was Tijny, with B and me probably having a tight fight for 2nd, in case of a ghost race.
But for the bit of bad luck i had earlier in the season, i'll take the gift(s) and take the trophy home :D

The season:

Surprise of the season is imo Badeend, who was capeable of beating me and Tijny in the fight for the pole, at least once. But mainly because of winning at least one race, being the fastest driver on the track. I don't know how much more practice he had over Tijny in i.e. Drosovce, but besides using the secret magic fuel saving driving style, Bade managed to also drive constant, mistakeless and ...fast. And this with a fuel saving driving line, unconsciously, but still! And partly with more fuel in his car. I don't know what is tougher - driving a style like that and being so constant fast or...driving a sick racetotaltime, Tijny did in race 9 for example.

If there would be a hall of fame of "dominating race winners", where the current active top2 TS players finished the race, i don't know if i can add myself to the list. But besides Tijny, dede (i guess), Pablinho (that 1 race, you remember, guys?), it feels fine to say, there is Badeend around there, now. From always being a fast AntiSlider player, a strong Punaball player and Tijnys sparring partner in Banaring with Antislider ;D ...he also showed up with surprising solid speeder skills last "beta default cars" cup. Not to forget the celebration of knowing exactly how to position himself during a race in an RDP-AntiSlider reverse starting order cup (with or without draft). At least it looked like he knew what he was doing.

Edit:
oh, ofc thx to all the organization & coders - Whip, T, B, power - awesome scripts and stats again!

Comment on the last race:
Yeah, I failed, but it was still very fun. The track was tricky on some its own way, and I liked it, even I was totally out of pace on it. First lap - lost 13 positions - well done Whip.
Anyway, congrats to Mike for a great win and making those two amateurs to taste dust of your tyres.

Comment on the competition:
It was a really great journey and I enjoyed it a lot. It started frugally, but it evolved in a really cool format just after the first race. We should now find a way to keep it alive and improve it in all parts we feel we can.
Congrats to T for a well deserved win!

Special thanks go to power79, Tijny, Badeend and Mike - for taking part in organization and pushing the competition to a whole new level by their coding skills.
...oh, well, and to all those Shitalians being around, and to all the other participants.

And, what now? - Well, I made a post about that. Read it HERE.

Btw funny race after all, we shitalians decided to play aggressive against each other on purpose cus it was last race of the tournament. Sorry in advance if that disturbed someone but I think I personally deserved it after battling against Bruno throughout the whole cup. :p
