2011-2012 Turbosliders.com F1 League SlidersTV Awards VOTING

PostMon Mar 05, 2012 6:42 pm

Please submit all votes by PM to my forum account here ONLY. Any other form of voting may not be counted. You may only vote for ONE option in each category. You may vote for yourself, if so wished. Voting will close on 11/03/2012 @ 23:59GMT - results will be released shortly after. If I get time, I might make a video with the winning moments in.. not a promise though as I will be busy with the upcoming race videos :D Ok, so here are the nominations, given in no particular order:

Best Driver
(Awarded to the best driver throughout the season)

Voting Options

- Eddie (Turbosliders + Team)
A solid season for the Season 1 Champion, he actually scored the most points throughout the season, but the drops system put him 2nd in the championship. He scored two wins when team-mate Dede had problems in the first half of the season at the British Grand Prix and the Australian Grand Prix, and an impressive win from 2nd on the grid in the final race of the season, the Swedish Grand Prix.

- Etmil (Invent Racing)
A great season for the only Invent Racing driver to be nominated, finishing 6th in the championship with 3 4th place finishes at the season opening Italian Grand Prix, the Argentinian Grand Prix and the US Grand Prix. However, that much sought after podium eluded him.

- Dede (Turbosliders + Team)
An up and down season for the now 3 time champion, with two 14th place finishes in a row at the start of the season meaning he had to come from behind to win the championship. A superb run of consecutive podiums from Race #3 to Race #8, including wins at the rain soaked Austrian Grand Prix, the Danish Grand Prix and the Argentinian Grand Prix put him right back in the hunt for a 3rd consecutive title, and a 3rd place in the final race was enough to secure it.

- Lanz (The Underdogs)
A breakthrough season for the team "The Underdogs" resulted in a shock 1-2 at the first race of the season, when Lanz won the Italian Grand Prix. Further podiums at the British Grand Prix and the European Grand Prix solidified Lanz's status as a top driver, and late in the season he lead home another 1-2 for The Underdogs at the Qatar Night Race, winning from his first ever pole position. 5 finishes of 6th or worse however meant he was not a championship contender come the end of the season, and he ended up a worthy 4th place in the championship.

- Pablinho (The Underdogs)
A breakthrough season for the Underdogs driver, scoring 3 pole positions and 2 impressive wins at the European and US Grand Prix's. He was a championship contender come the final races, however costly mistakes perhaps under pressure in the final race cost him his chance. Missing the first race of the season caused him to use one of his two "drops" early, but from there on he did not finish outside the Top 5 all season, a remarkable show of consistency, which helped him to 3rd place in the championship.

Also Nominated

You may NOT vote on these options, this is just in recognition of those that received multiple nominations, but fell short of the top 5.

- Mike Nike (xTreame Team)
Two podiums in the Austrian and US Grand Prix's meant Mike Nike secured several nominations, after a good year with a worst finish of only 7th and a championship position of 5th.

- siLciR (The Underdogs)
2nd places at the British, Danish and Swedish Grand Prix's were enough to get siLciR several nominations, he conteded for wins at times, such as at the Danish Grand Prix where he spent several laps in the lead. Running out of fuel on the final lap of the European Grand Prix, retiring from the Argentinian Grand Prix and missing 4 races meant he only finished 14th in the championship.

Best Race
(Most exciting race to watch on SlidersTV)

Voting Options

- Qatar Airways Night Race ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31RfiDae ... plpp_video )
The first ever night race for the Turbosliders.com F1 League was a huge success, the Losail Circuit looked beautiful both from the drivers perspective and the fans watching on SlidersTV. Not only that, but there was great racing, Lanz leading home his FUN team-mate Pablinho for the victory and a very closely fought battle for the podium positions between all of the top drivers.

- Budweiser US Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc351Y1g ... plpp_video )
A fantastic race from the Embrey Circuit in Texas, USA saw plenty of side by side action between the top drivers, a great win by Pablinho and some very interesting strategy - a 4 stop from Dede was certainly a highlight! Many hard battles were fought, with drivers passing and then re-passing each other constantly, particular highlights being Dede's battles with Eddie and Etmil.

- Forst European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs )
A surprising win from Pablinho and great battles between Dede, Eddie and Lanz were highlights of this fantastic race. A shock ending too with siLciR running out of fuel in the final corners made this race one to be remembered.

- AGIP Gran Premio d'Italia ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQJ-S5ov ... plpp_video )
Surely an all time classic, a shock 1-2 from the FUN team, Dede's retirement, some fantastic side by side racing and of course, the first ever race broadcast on SlidersTV. This race set the championship off in style, setting the tone for a great season.

- ING Sveriges Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUmGfiuT ... plpp_video )
This race ended the championship in style, a great win by Eddie giving him momentum perhaps for the 5th season, Dede winning the championship after Pablinho's early errors, and the podium positions being in doubt right down to the last laps made this race not to be missed. Of course, don't forget the closing montage, "Just Drive" ;)

Also Nominated

You may NOT vote on these options, this is just in recognition of those that received multiple nominations, but fell short of the top 5.

- Carlsberg Grote Prijs van Danske ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L33YgcRAfFc )
Another great race with a thrilling start, and fascinating strategy meaning the winner was not known until late in the race. It fell short of gaining a voting spot by just 1 nomination.

- iR Grosser Preis von Österreich ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIexyzkxb3g )
The only rainy race of the year ended in a dominating win from Dede, but some great racing on the slippery Lercington circuit meant this gained several nominations. Mike Nikes overtake on the outside of Pingu, Etmil's crash with Mike Nike and Lexx's crash into the pitwall left us asking "I wanna know, have they ever seen the rain?"

Best Win
(Most impressive Pro Race win)

All wins gained multiple nominations, however these ones stood out in numbers:

Voting Options

- Lanz: Italian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQJ-S5ov ... plpp_video )
A shock win from Lanz at his home circuit, leading home his FUN team mate Shyguy after overtaking Mike Nike late in the race to take the chequered flag first.

- Dede: Austrian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIexyzkxb3g )
Dede showed a dominant display of his wet racing skills, comfortably coming back from 2 14th place finishes in a row to winning the Austrian Grand Prix.

- Pablinho: European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs )
Pablinho took home his first ever win in the Turbosliders.com F1 League from his second pole in a row at the Littamum Circuit, Italy. A popular victory, this set up a run at the championship that only fell short in the final race of the season.

- Pablinho: US Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc351Y1g ... plpp_video )
The second of Pablinho's two wins was equally as impressive as the first, once again taking the pole and running away with the victory while the rest squabbled behind him.

- Lanz: Qatar Night Race ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31RfiDae ... plpp_video )
Lanz scored a controlled victory while the rest of the pack raced intensely behind him, once again leading home a FUN 1-2.

Best Track
(The best track in terms of racing, looks, etc.)

All tracks gained multiple nominations, a great achievement trackmakers! These ones gained more than the rest:

Voting Options

- Losail International Circuit, Lanz ( http://www.turbosliders.com/view_track. ... 7&offset=0 )
A great night track with a mix of fast corners and slow hairpins, with some good long straights providing overtaking opportunities. The track was used before it was even ready, meaning the scenery is a little sparse, but it is set in the deserts of Qatar!

- Morlund Circuit, Eddie ( http://www.turbosliders.com/view_track. ... 8&offset=0 )
This track provided some great racing, with plenty of contact between the cars putting on an exciting show. Mistakes were punished heavily by the snow on the outside of the circuit, and there were 3 straights easily long enough to provide great overtaking action. Also highlights of the track include the tight chicane at Turn 5/6 and the esses in the middle sector of the lap.

- Granvej Circuit, Dede ( http://www.turbosliders.com/view_track. ... 3&offset=0 )
This little circuit provided fast, close and intense racing. Reminiscent of the Hungaroring, there were few straights to provide overtaking so battles were close and exciting. A double apex sweeper at Turns 14/15 was surely one of the most exciting corners to drive all year.

- Embrey Circuit, Etmil ( http://www.turbosliders.com/view_track. ... 6&offset=0 )
This circuit, with its long, curvy straights provided some of the best overtaking action seen all year. The triple apex turns 1/2/3 complex was exhilarating for the drivers, and the large, tough chicanes provided great opportunities to overtake on the straight that followed. The quick entry to pit lane meant many stops was viable, resulting in Dede's risky 4 stop strategy working out.

- Littamum Circuit, Lanz ( http://www.turbosliders.com/view_track. ... 4&offset=0 )
Beautiful scenery, great crowds, a bridge and some fantastic long, sweeping corners make this track a great example on how to make a top F1 track. Great racing was provided too, and the short pitlane made for fascinating strategies.

Best Overtake
(The best overtake from the season, Pro Races only)

I received so many nominations for this topic, 7 options will be available to vote. In the "Also Nominated" category I will list only those that got many nominations, since there were so many I wouldn't have time to write them all! I'll try to give links to those I can in the also nominated category too.

Voting Options

- Dede vs Etmil: US Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UyOc7-EGNg#t=12m18s )
The video says it all. The quick reactions required to pull of this overtake is what makes Dede one of the greats of Turbosliders. Surely one for the replay tapes for a very long time.

- Dede vs Mike Nike: Danish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L33YgcRAfFc#t=19m31s )
Once again, Dede shows his quick reactions with this superb pass on Mike Nike for the lead on the frontstretch of the Granvej Circuit.

- Shyguy vs Pingu: Australian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rSQoFnu4Zo#t=34m13s )
This overtake shows that even if you think a position is gone, you should never give up trying to get it back. There was the smallest of spaces for Shyguy to fit his car in here, and he did so. Pingu's problems were then compounded by Kikiriki attempting to overtake him despite him being a lap down.

- Eddie vs Dede: British Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ips3iEBxeI#t=5m28s )
An important move at the start of the race, Eddie taking the lead right after the start, forcing the issue on a track where overtaking was very tough.

- Eddie vs Lanz: European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs#t=22m35s )
Yet more proof you should never give up on a position until the driver in front is out of sight.. after making a small mistake and losing a position to Lanz, Eddie wastes no time in getting it back in the next corner, fantastic opportunism from Eddie here.

- Pablinho vs Mike Nike: British Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ips3iEBxeI#t=31m30s )
After many laps pressuring Mike Nike, trying to pass, finally it paid off for Pablinho after this great battle in the closing laps of the British Grand Prix.

- siLciR vs Dede: Swedish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKVQs0CQkI0#t=5m25s )
Not many drivers are able to report having passed Dede in a Turbosliders.com F1 League race, even fewer around the outside of a fast sweeping corner. siLciR did exactly what he needed to do here, keeping Dede pinned to the apex and forcing a mistake.

Also Nominated

You may NOT vote on these options, this is just in recognition of those that received multiple nominations, but fell short of the top 7.

- Dede vs Lanz: European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs#t=38m0s )
Crucial pass for the final podium position (until siLciR ran out of fuel, this was actually for 2nd place) with only 2 laps to go in the race, a dive up the inside in the braking zone here from Dede after being hit in the pits earlier by Szymek.

- Eddie vs Dede/Lanz: European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs#t=19m40s )
As Dede and Lanz exit the pits here early in the race, Eddie uses a couple of great laps on fresh tyres to catch them and then bravery into Turn 1 to stay flat out for as late as possible and pass both drivers.

- Shyguy vs Arjen/John: European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs#t=15m16s )
Weaving down the main straight from Shyguy, dummying JoHn_5 making him defend outside, and then taking the inside himself.

- Lanz vs Mike Nike: Italian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etV_SK8zZdI#t=2m53s )
Nearing the end of the race, Mike was on a 1 stop strategy, could he hold on to the win with his aging tyres? This move made sure he couldn't, with a touch of wheels.

- Eddie vs Dede: Swedish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKVQs0CQkI0#t=0m15s )
A crucial move at the start of the race, here Eddie took the lead and Dede, not wanting to risk the championship lost his chance on rounding out the 4th season with a win.

- Dede vs siLciR: Qatar Night Race ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9lXiDEgLSA#t=7m40s )
Dede once again proving his worth as a great overtaker, using all the available space on the kerb to pass siLciR in this tight overtake at the Losail Circuit.

- Mike Nike vs Pingu: Austrian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIexyzkxb3g#t=16m28s )
A great pass in difficult conditions, Mike makes Pingu look like he is standing still passing him on the outside of Turns 1 and 2.

- Mike Nike vs Eddie: Danish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L33YgcRAfFc#t=30m22s )
Opportunism from Mike Nike here, using the lapped car of Hevonen who is holding Eddie up to make an unlikely pass - Mike has much older tyres than Eddie, on a 1 stop strategy.

- Pablinho vs Lanz: Argentinian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqZkr32WAjI#t=2m30s )
A great pass from Pablinho here, once again forcing an overtake in a track where overtaking is very tough.

Best Rookie
(The best player who made his first start this season, both pro and rookie races)

Voting Options

- JonnO
JonnO made 4 starts late in the season after seeing a race on SlidersTV. He made his first Pro Race start in the Qatar Night Race, with a finish of 13th. His second pro race start had consisted of lag problems at the Swedish Grand Prix, however he has shown lots of promise in raw speed of perhaps being a shock contender for podiums next season.

- Wokinger
The F1 Speed League master made his first start in the Turbosliders.com F1 League this year, racing all the races for the Verva Racing Team. Qualifying for every pro race but the first was an impressive feat, and a 10th place finish in the championship makes him the highest rookie.

- Hazard
Hazard qualified for the last 3 pro races of the year, after racing on and off throughout the season. If his speed improves further it's possible he could compete for top 10 positions in the next league.

- Szymek
Szymek put in some excellent rookie race performances, including a win at the British Rookie Grand Prix. His excellent 9th place at the Swedish Grand Prix, beating his team mate Wokinger suggests that he will go onto greater things in the next season.

- Kilkuriki
Kilkuriki began his season at Race 4, and showed excellent promise midseason with back to back 8th places at both the European and Argentinian Grand Prix's. However late in the season, he missed the pro race (and won the US Rookie Grand Prix) and finished 19th and 20th in the Qatar Night Race and the Swedish Grand Prix.

Also Nominated

You may NOT vote on these options, this is just in recognition of those that received multiple nominations, but fell short of the top 5.

- JoHn_5
A great suprise that JoHn_5 did not gain enough nominations to get into the top 5, as he finished second best of all the rookies this season. Perhaps it is because he is so quiet, unassuming and fair that people could not even think that he was a rookie, or just do not notice him as he quietly goes about his business qualifying for every Pro Race he attempted but the final one, where he won the Swedish Rookie Grand Prix.

- Drago
Drago, the only surviving member of the [dp] team at the end of the season, finished his up and down rookie year with plenty of experience going forward into Season 5. Highlights were surely a 12th place at the British Grand Prix and 15th place and 16th place at the Qatar Night Race and the Swedish Grand Prix to close out the year, after a controversial incident with fellow rookie Kilkuriki.

- Delux
Delux had a disappointing rookie year considering his credentials in other series such as SCARTS, where he has won in the lower leagues. Only qualifying for one pro race, the European Grand Prix, where he finished 18th, he suffered from lag problems often, costing him possible rookie race wins.

- Augusto
Augusto made an impressive end to the year with back to back 16th places at the US Grand Prix and the Qatar Night Race. Apart from that it was an up and down year, often being a midfield rookie race runner.

Best Gentleman
(The fairest racer from the season, both pro and rookie races)

Voting Options

- Mike Nike
A hard racer, often going for gaps and defending positions hard, but fair. Perhaps the Schumi of Turbosliders?

- Wokinger
From running right at the front in his McLaren after 8 seasons of F1 Speed League, running midfield in the Turbosliders.com F1 League would of been a tough challenge for Wokinger. However he was praised for how he let lapping cars by and his fair racing in the midfield.

- Lux
Often cited as one of turbosliders fairest players, Lux is an unassuming fairplayer who gives space and defends/attacks cleanly.

- JoHn_5
A quiet, fair and fast player, that rarely complains and will give positions back if he feels he has taken it unfairly.

- Dede
The series champion, an overtaking master, also gives him the skills needed for fairplay, and to abide to the gentleman rules he sets down for the series.

Also Nominated

You may NOT vote on these options, this is just in recognition of those that received multiple nominations, but fell short of the top 5.

- Pablinho
Often victim to lag problems, Pab is perhaps not the first pick for everyone to be called the fairest player. However he has shown the ability to sit behind a car, pressuring them and not forcing a rough move, such as vs Mike Nike in the British Grand Prix and Lanz in the Argentinian Grand Prix.

- Szymek
One of the fairest racers now in the league just missed out on a nomination, he will always give the position back even after the most marginal of contacts, and always gives space for fair and clean racing.

The REIROM Award for Biggest Fail
(The biggest failure of any kind during the season)

Voting Options

- Del: Disqualification from Argentinian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqZkr32WAjI#t=4m17s )
Of course this wasn't the only incident from this race. By allowing this to be nominated, I don't mean to spark off the whole argument again.. but it recieved many nominations and therefore is an option! Biggest fail? Perhaps ;) trololololo.....

- siLciR: Running out of fuel at the end of the European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs#t=39m22s )
It was known for all of the last stint he was close on fuel.. it couldn't of been predicted it would be so close. siLciR couldn't get a team to do the calculations for him sooner! F*** mechanics! Not only did he run out of fuel, but he then run through the pits without even topping up in fuel, costing him further positions.. 2nd place thrown away by a few less fractions of a second in the pits.

- Dede: Going straight on at Turn 1 in the Australian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rSQoFnu4Zo#t=9m55s )
All credit to Dede here, he was trying to start the rookie race while playing the pro race, perhaps not the best idea since the main straight at Harlow is quite short ;)

- Lexx: Hitting the pitwall on entry in the Austrian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIexyzkxb3g#t=24m10s )
Oh, theres a wall there? Woops! And there too? Damn!

- Kilkuriki: Trying to beef Drago and failing in the Swedish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-TiLn9Q ... re=related )
Maybe what's a fail here is not even the attempted beef in the first place, but the fact that he missed

Also Nominated

You may NOT vote on these options, this is just in recognition of those that received multiple nominations, but fell short of the top 5.

- Szymek: Hitting Dede in the pits at the European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs#t=33m25s )
This fast pit entry caused a lot of troubles.. seems Szymek forgot which button for his brakes!

- Etmil: Out of fuel in the Danish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L33YgcRAfFc#t=33m59s )
Wtf, seems even with a big team some people can't calculate fuel correctly :D F*** mechanics! Surely some of the best team radio all league too here from the angry driver.

- Shyguy: For getting the Argentinian Grand Prix video deleted from youtube
Hehe, this needs no comment in its failureworthyness.

- Shyguy: For his disconnect in the Qatar Night Race resulting in the leader Lanz crashing into him ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9lXiDEgLSA#t=10m36s )
Here's also some great radio, as Shyguy disconnects right into the path of Lanz.

- Respeckt: For attempting to cross the track while out of fuel in the Swedish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNCS8jORA78#t=4m10s )
Respeckt got confused and thought he was playing frogger here..

- REIROM: For getting banned from the league even while under disguise
Image
^^This image says it all.. Like a Boss!

- JonnO: For most perfect lag ever in the Swedish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-TiLn9Q ... ed#t=4m45s )
Bullseye!

- Matic: For trying to overtake in the pits in the Swedish Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cN3va3wk2D4#t=2m32s )
Maybe not the best place to attempt an overtake

- Etmil: For his speedy entry to the pits in the European Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLHNenv-Cs#t=17m45s )
Seems someone else also forgets his brakes! Almost disastrous consequences here, just about avoided :)

- Etmil: For beefing Mike Nike in wet conditions at the Austrian Grand Prix ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIexyzkxb3g#t=14m12s )
If you listen carefully you can hear Etmil scream "KAMIKAZEEEEE" as he dives for the inside ;)

Happy Voting!!

Ok, just to respect whole Shy's work, I 'll vote like this:

Best driver
dede

Best race
Forst European Grand Prix (Silc just made it to be the best one  )

Best win
Pablinho: European Grand Prix

Best track
Granvej Circuit, dede (wtf, where is that cartoon networked track by T???)

Best overtake
siLciR vs Dede: Swedish Grand Prix (I love that replay spinning camera; you had to use it more)

Best rookie
Wokinger (seems like the most constant)
