I've prepared some structures for the new site in case you would like to use it. I just finished it by now yet I don't feel like posting it now as I must give brief explanations of wtf these structures are. In this new set of structures, I chose to implement several old structures and hand-pick what are best to be implemented in the new site. Talk about maintaining consistency.

Just posting structures without explanations is never a good idea. Speaking of screenshots, I will be making some. I just have to use existing TSRs and some others I specially make. By the way, does anyone have TSRs from other modes? (i.e., Punaball, TeamPlay, etc.)

That would take too much time and I would also have to find corresponding tracks/cars files for you to make you able to open them. So, it's easier to capture images by starting your own race/battle.

Anyway, this is what should be considered:
- At the place where 3 images are currently circulating on the home page - I think it would be better to use that space for direct Server List presentation. That will make us to have quick preview of in-game activity and also it would provoke visitors to open the game and check the active servers. We already had such solution recently, and it was quite useful (see it HERE)

- Tab "Chat" should be added. There are tons of open-source web-based IRC clients which can be integrated to the website. By default, it should lead people to:
channel: #turbosliders
server: open.ircnet.net

I finished my part on the Help section.
Now more experienced people and "more English" people will have to insert/edit articles.

ok to change the home-slideshow with useful information like the server list.

ok to add the chat tab

----
edit:

what is the difference between http://turbosliders.com/index1.php and http://www.turbosliders.com/servers-list.php ?

No difference.
You did a great job with the "Help" section! Maybe you should just rename it to "I'm a newbie" or "Newbie guide". As I've already said, that will increase chance for people to click on it.
That's cause "Help" sections on websites are usually there to explain things about the website it self. That's why most of the people never check them out easily.
And don't forget to add there dede's tutorial about Creating a TurboSliders track using Photoshop (LINK).

I've just seen "Chat" section. It's technically very good. You should just consider few improvements. First of all, I was wondering is there a way to open a few different channels on a few different IRC servers by one click? If yes, then you should add all of these, together with the described info:

-#turbosliders (irc.quakenet.org) - the oldest TS IRC channel. It's not active a lot, but you can still meet TS community members there and ask questions you want, and chat.

-#lvp, #lvp2, #lvp3 (open.ircnet.net) - these channels are connected to "LVP #1 - PUNABALL", "LVP #2 - FULL CONTACT" and "LVP #3 - PUNABALL" servers. You can use it for monitoring each of the servers. These are the main commands for these 3 lvp channels:
- !players - to see the list of players who're playing.
- !msg your message -
- !standings - to see the current cup points of best 3 players

- #turbosliders - (open.irc.net) - planned to be the official TS channel.
- #tsf1, #tshotlap - (open.ircnet.net) - new channels opened just after the v2.5.3 has been released. You can monitor here Hot Lap and F1 Fairplay servers. Use !msg your message - to send a message to players in the game server.

If you're forced to open only one channel/server, then let it be #turbosliders on IRCnet - because that's the one we planned to be official after some recent discussion.

And, here I've found you a few representing videos that you can add to the multimedia list:

thank you very much! i'll work on it soon

SERVER LIST
but first I rewrite the server list script (lighter and updated). I have a question about:
is this kind of link useful yet? http://www.turbosliders.com/connect.php ... 6.151:6660
do you think there is anyone who uses it? or maybe can we leave it out and only show the list without links?

------------------------------------------------
IRC CHAT
i can provide a link like this: http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=t ... ,lvp2,lvp3
but I do not know if that's what you want.
I'm no expert on irc, I only know that service of web chat (webchat.quakenet.org).
if the "lvp channels" must be opened in another way, tell me how because I do not know :)

Nobody used that. So, yes, leave it out.
Anyway, few suggestions:
- Try to colorize the server list a bit (letters especially).
- Try to order the server list by their activity, if possible.

The problem is that we're not using QuakeNet network. We're mostly using IRCnet as you can see. The other problem is, I guess, that there is no a lot web-clients that supports all of the major networks. But even we're using IRCnet mostly, it would be still good to have a web-based client that can support all the other networks too.
After some search, I found you THIS ONE. On the bottom of the page is explained how to integrate it to the site.
Long time ago I prepared a non-web-based IRC client that opens all of the needed servers. You can check it out HERE to see how it works. That's what we need now on website.

SERVER LIST
ok sorting by number of players
What colors? the list must remain legible, no harlequinades :P

IRC
I tried to configure WSIRC with "open.irc.net" and the default port 6667, but it seems not work ...
...or at least I do not understand. try here: http://www.wsirc.com/?username=&server= ... rbosliders

however, in a couple of days I go out of town for a week ...
Meanwhile, take a look at the page "team", collect materials and ideas.
thank you :)
Also the general standings of the weekly hotlap will not be updated until I return

Well, keep the color of the table as it is (white). But, for example, try to make server names bold and red for now only.
Also, on the top of the table try to show the info of how many servers and active players are there overall. You have that info on the current website too (Live Stats: ~7 public servers | ~3 public players).

stummihouse wrote:IRC

It's open.ircnet.net, you amateur. :P

Anyway, you've done really amazing job so far! I have one suggestion and one question:
- Look at that "Download" tab. If you put cursor on, it will list 3 new tabs (Turbo Sliders, Tracks and Cars). Well, that's how you could make "Chat" tab working too. If we put cursor on, it should list "Direct Chat", that will automatically lead you to the chat - and "Info" or "Guide", that will lead you to the current page (HERE)

- Is there a way for me to edit the text on the site sometimes? Do I just need to register there? Or that will be allowed later, once the site is over?

About "Chat"
You did this nicely! But here are the things that could be changed:

- Both, "Direct chat" and "Chat info" should be opened in a new tab automatically (by default) - if possible. That will allow people to continue searching the TS website once they run the chat. Also, once inside of "Direct chat", they will not accidentally close it up in order to read the "Chat info" maybe too.
- Is there a way to remove "User login" section from inside of "Chat" pages? It's really not needed there and it uses a lot of space that could be used to enlarge the chat window across the whole page.
Currently, I'm having some small "bugs" with such a small space for messages (Contacts names go out from the focused screen sometimes).
- You wrote "Insert your nickname and press Connect" - but to be perfectly precise, you should write "Insert your Username and press Connect".
- On the bottom of the "Chat info" page you left the info of how to join #turblosliders on irc.quakenet.org. But you don't need to use that webchat client for that anymore, because you can now set up the WSIRC client for QuakeNET network and its #turbosliders channel too. So, just search the WSIRC's server list and you'll find QuakeNET there easily.

And, just in case, HERE is the image of some of the things I mentioned above.

perhaps it would be better not to integrate the chat. otherwise it is inevitable that someone "fall into the temptation" to navigate the rest of the site.

we could open a new window on purpose for the webchat (with this link http://www.wsirc.com/?username=&server= ... rbosliders)

everything would be much clearer

O.K., but you should keep that list with "Direct chat" and "Chat info" tabs (where "Direct chat" would be opened in new browser tab). It's just better to join the chat by one click.

Just an idea, feel free to discard it.. I'd love to have a website chat facebook-style. In GPRO they implemented it nicely, it could help to contact other players visiting the site and bring people to the servers. I know that GPRO's one isn't freeware, but I believe there are alternatives around.

Re: New Turbo Sliders website (2015)

I don't see a big difference. Actually, I'm seeing few disadvantages compared to IRC:
- GPRO's chat is blocked by my browser automatically, so I can't even run it directly. It's also full of advertised shits.
- IRC chat gives newbies good chances to meet other players and ask them for help. If you make just a local web chat, then a newbie will probably have 0,001% to get the actual help.
- IRC chat allows you also to monitor the in-game servers, and talk to in-game players trough it.
- TS and GPRO are totally different types of games. You're playing GPRO by browser and you're more about to join the chat using that browser too. But, nobody will keep TS's chat running while playing the game. Also, GPRO is more popular game and it has no problem to bring few players to the chat most of the time.

So, if some mentioned Facebookish chat would be implemented, then make sure that it can be connected to existing IRC channels. Otherwise, it will be wasted.
The other solution is to implement the chat directly on the home page. So, every visitor will automatically became an chat contact (he'll be guest when not logged in). That will make bigger chance for newcomers to meet other players and ask potential questions.
Now I'm just not sure where to find that space on the home page, since it's quite busy now by the server list - which, btw, looks nicely and useful.

As promised, I have proposed what to be implemented from my side. Feel free to either use it or ditch it however you see fit. Initially I wanted to do structures but considering most of it is already implemented I changed my direction.

- Downloads page should also include "TSRs" and "Others" (miscellaneous downloads. e.g., dede's Photoshop Tutorial). However the latter would be more likely as there might be not many TSRs posted.
- Cups page should consist "Single Cups" and "Tournaments".
- Let's say that we have logged in already, what will the "User login" box show instead? I know that the upper box would show new PMs, forum profile etc., but would that mean the said box will be used for content submissions like the old, current site has?
- In the blog portion on the home page, there has to be a "more posts" options which links to the blog page.
- What if the last three boxes below are used for "Upcoming Events" (latest tournaments and stuff), "Latest Contents" and "Latest posts"? Don't have an idea what to have for the fourth box though :(

EDIT: the "Connect" function in the Server List will also be implemented, right? So players could download the .tss file directly if they were to play an online game in one of the servers.

We already discussed that it's not needed. I doubt that anyone ever used those stuff to join the game. I used it only once experimentally, and regretted immediately. It's just not practical.

I guess you misunderstood/I wasn't clear enough. By Facebook chat I mean the possibility to send private messages to users connected to the website, so that it's enough to be connected to the website to message with other players and call them to join servers. It happened several times to me in the past to see people connected to the forum but I wasn't able to contact them at all if not via PM.

Having an IRC chat on all pages isn't a good idea IMO, because people would get disconnected and reconnected every time they go to different page (or then you need to split the screen with frames, but who uses them nowadays?).

Check attachment to see what I mean.

I installed a chat like the one mentioned by dede.
is the free version of the bowob chat.

it has banner ads, install adblock to hide it and all the ads in the web :P

I personally do not like this kind of chat. every time I tried it on a website, it was a failure

try it anyway, see you in a week!

Stummi, don't also forget about setting a digital clock on the website. It could be set on top of the page - in between of TS logo and those planned announcements, or it can be right (just before the Facebook plugin). Default time should be GMT and it shouldn't be converted to all users.
Also, once you start working with the "Cups" tab, consider having time counter there to show how much time exactly left for the next event to start. Every cup organizer should be able to set that counter up. I hope it's not a hard thing to make.

thank you for the suggestion (updated the first post)
--------------------------------------------
about cups.
how many and which types of cups are there?

now come to my mind:
1) "continuous competitions", such as the Weekly Hot Lap, and the old Open Season (http://www.gpor.it/en/games/turboslider ... pen-season)
these competitions may be based on various types of ranking and rating calculation, or on the laptimes calculated in various ways.

2) "organized competitions", such as the Formula 1 championship.
These competitions require a period for registrations and must be maintained manually by the administrator of the cup, which must update the results and to take care of the races.

think of other types of race?
for now we leave aside Punaball, which must be managed differently

thank you!

as you can see in the first post that I try to keep updated:

1) I am waiting for help from the forum administrators to install a MOD which is used for the integration of users and forums with the new site

2) about the cup: I was waiting for some answers to my question (and it would be useful also unlock the step 1, first)
