Seems that the fair play cup is going to be in 2017, so let's have FCC #3! Whip, Jurgen, do you want to do it?

I've already said before that FCC has to be automatized in order to be organized. It's not easily manageable manually. It's frustrating to sort people in groups etc.

Whipeeeeeeeeeee, we need another FCC... Being in "FCC mode" means full server everyday.

I'll help with the groups, I'll do them, you just have to be there to start it up :P

First of all:
Thanks a lot, Tijny, for writing the hotlapcup script (!vote 23) which is already running! One which doesn't create increasing warps, like my script from january somehow seemed to do :D

2nd:
I did not trust my eyes when realizing only 2 logfiles include the "new" hotlapcups yet in my logfolder.
Anyways, i made some statistics already, crunching/shrinking some info with a short script and then making hand by hand stats in order to show some yammy stats and give a little idea of how some future stats could let our addiction get even more crazy :D

In "races" you often have to drive a safety lap 3 or 4 in order to not mess up the more important cup results.
So...no 1vs1 RaceWin comparisons yet, where same "pts" would count as a draw, but:

Code: Select all

------------------------------------------------------------------

  18 Drv - Most Drivers listed in CupResults after race 10
1938 Pts - Toughest CupFight (Most Points of Top2): Mike vs Tijny [971 vs 967]

My hope :D ->
a server script being executed, made by tijny, after each hotlapcup race or cup, creating a html or php page with an overall ranking, basicly showing who is most likely going to win a cup.

A nice addition would be, being able to select 2 drivers in 2 dropdownlists and show something like:
Tijny vs Mike:
7 Cups (6 Wins 0 Draws 1 Losses) [86%]
70 Races (47 Wins 4 Draws 19 Losses) [70%] (dont know the exact stats right now!)

Draw counting as 0.5 Wins, resulting in 70% chance of Tijny beating Mike in a 4 lap HotLapRace with AntiSlider-Hunter in a random FCC track

But my preferred next step and no hurries, Tijny :D ->

adding a cuptype like 23:
24) fixed car voteable for the whole cup: AntiSlider-Hunter|Speeder|Slider|AntiSlider|EasySlider|may i say it? Spinner|TSB-F2...
25) random car race by race, chosen from a fixed prescripted selection, such as: AntiSlider-Hunter|Speeder|Slider|TSB-F2

Thanks for the feedback, Mike. I will take your suggestions into consideration. Cool stats!

One problem I've seen is that players who want to play Full Contact often *do not* want to play hot lap cups, and vice versa, so keeping this on one and the same server leads to unhappy people. (I've seen guys like Arska always joining near the end of a hot lap cup, hoping next cup will be Full Contact, and leaving as soon as 23 is voted again...)

It seems that for now this gamemode is popular enough to warrant its own server, which would also make it much easier to implement web-stats in any shape or form. Again, something to think about...

I believe having two servers is a mistake... We should try and keep all players on the same server. Sure, some are complaining about 23, but that mode is being "abused" because it's new (and also awesome). The ones who really like racing, will play both modes.

I actually think differently. Yes, I noticed mentioned problem, but it doesn't affect too many players for too long time. You should consider the advantages:
- players are now grouping much faster around the wankers;
- sooner or later they get what they desire (even I as a wanker need some break after few HL cups in a row).

Anyway, I like Mike's idea, of course. :) The only thing to consider is to make all those stats based on seasons (weekly, monthly, yearly). Otherwise, one player could avoid playing against another after he got some advantage over him in one or two cups.

And, the thing that is still somehow missing is a motivation to join the server when it's in 0/20 status. There must be a way to make some wanking option that is fun and challenging even if you're alone on the server. That's very important if we aim to have constantly active server.

3 good responses, nice :)

So...here are some additional stats -> my script filtered out the accidental hotlapstats from 3 lap races:

21.2.-23.2.:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1vs1 Comparison between [x] Mike Nike and Tinjowitsu-san / Turbo Tinjo xd
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total Races [Won,Draw,Loss -> Win%] [AveragePts]: 61 [15,2,44 -> 26%] [86-96]
Total Races [Won,Draw,Loss -> Win%] [AveragePts]: 10 [6,0,4 -> 60%] [97-97]
Total Races [Won,Draw,Loss -> Win%] [AveragePts]: 10 [2,1,7 -> 25%] [86-97]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
81 Races [23,3,55 -> 30.2%]

vs [fS]Palo
------------------------------
73 [46,2,25 -> 64%] [87-79]
65 [34,3,28 -> 55%] [92-88]
28 [15,2,11 -> 57%] [92-86]
------------------------------
166 [95,7,64 -> 59.3%]

vs [+] Badeend
------------------------------
11 [8,0,3 -> 73%] [85-78]
5 [4,0,1 -> 80%] [72-52]
19 [13,0,6 -> 68%] [90-84]
------------------------------
35 [25,0,10 -> 71.4%]

vs Whip
------------------------------
46 [37,1,8 -> 82%] [86-73]
27 [21,0,6 -> 78%] [87-75]
20 [15,0,5 -> 75%] [89-78]
------------------------------
93 [73,1,19 -> 79.0%]

In other words:
- Tijny kicks my ass around 70% of the time with a 97ish Pts Average (7-1 wins in full cup length, wtf GER vs BRA?)
- i kick BADeASS 71% (1-0 cupwins only so far)
- the toughest fight i have vs Palo (59%), though all 12 full cups i won so far.
- 79% vs Whip (8-0 cupwins) -> seems amateur?

I either improved a little or Whip might just not be able to drive that constant fast within 4 laps and ends up with a lot of safetylaps or allornothing major fails - similar to Badeend describing his pressure he had, right?
Funny format though, strategy reminds me a bit to highjump or something. 4 Laps/10 races seems quite nice :)

It seems to me like Whip is consistently going for too much. The format pretty much requires that you do a solid time in lap 2 or 3, and when you have accomplished that, you can go for a bit more in lap 4. Or alternatively, you can use what you learned in the earlier laps to drive better lines and improve your time without taking any more risks.

I must say I also quite like these strategic elements of the 4-lap format. There's the age-old saying that anyone can drive a good laptime given enough tries, but to pull this off consistently in such a limited number of laps takes skill, concentration and restraint.

Wtf, cold hands. Anyway, I like the number of 3 fast laps too. So far I never lost a cup thinking that I was unlucky.

As there is no new weekly hot lap cup coming, I was thinking of organizing something tiny to compensate, it would be played in offline mode and players would need to put their times here in forums. 1-3 car/track combinations per week (or two weeks), winner of category decides a new combination. I have more ideas, but like you see it's very basic. I would trust everyone to be honest. But I doubt there would be enough players? In that case, less combinations and longer time.

And yes, the old online competition was much better than this.

For starters, I quickly managed to do 31.936s with Whip's new car (F1-GEN) in Forestry, dunno where you can download it? Beware, it's not very entertaining. :wink:

***Second try, "huge" improvement, 31.588s***

Edit: Ok, I tried to do a few laps but I got stuck on a bale of hay with absolutely no way of breaking free because of the "realistic" steering. Such a fun feature.

well...either troll or not, with a sucky inet connection offline tournaments are very welcome :D

i found a link in this topic viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3086 to:
http://xtreame-team.game.ba/cars_downlo ... nload.html

in case you meant the F1-NG and not F1-GEN -> i managed with F1-NG in lap 12 a 31.53x and in lap 13 a 31.353.
Not really enjoyable. Especially not in hay bales hometown Forestry.

Wtf, stop driving my F1 cars where they're not supposed to. Btw, F1-NG and F1-GEN are having the totally same handling currently. They just have different image and pat. F1-NG is considered as final version, and F1-GEN is still in beta phase. But it probably won't get serious changes at the end (it needs more accurate pat only).
