xTreame Speed Test

PostThu Jan 03, 2013 7:19 am

Since there is no any wanking contest for default cars, I used excel improvisation to create one for these boring winter days.
The server is home made, so it 'll be there as long as my PC is running. Don't be surprised if you get lag attacks (while I'm watching porns or something), or even disconnection. I 'll try to refresh the simple ranking at least 1-2 times per day. The ranking will be accurate just after at least 1 top player set up his times.
After some old forum discussions I decided make it not to show the skill of the drivers, but their ratings (chance for winning of a short race). You can read a legend for it down there. :P

xTreame Speed Test ratings

Important note for all players:
Always play with the same profile :!:
Having the same nick doesn't mean you play with the same profile. If you delete your profile, you will have to play with the new one, even if you're using the same old nick
:!:

Nah, I actually didn't like that one much. After I met Punatiainen there last night, it reminded me on his great tracks. So, I replaced Hengari's track with pu_Dijon_Prenois, cause it's better to have one more smaller one.
I just don't know what's better to play: all tracks in cup, or just one (per day)?

Out of town, so I am playing with my laptop and this was my first time driving with default cars (+keyboard) so not so serious times but fun!
AntiSlider was only car that made some sense after training with F1-Premium. But only one track? Gets boring after a while, please change it so there is more tracks to compete.

Done. Now I just got an small error in excel formulas while adding the new track. I 'll refresh the ranking as soon as I find what went wrong. :x

Sure. It's all pretty much automatic, even though I must to do some manual moves.

One specific situation we got on EasySlider's overall ranking.
It's like this now:
Whip 498319 01:55,877
Palo 498282 01:55,794

It's hard to say if it's fair or not, but the fact is that I got more overall points with the slower overall time compared to Palo.

It's kinda impossible to avoid it with this point system. I could extract overall points from overall time, but in that case giving points per each race would be senseless. Then it would be practically like a racing one big track (combined by 5 tracks). So, each thousandth would worth the same.
In current point system, things are not working on that way. So, worthiness of each thousandth on "de_Rerum-Natura" track is much bigger than thousandths on Sc_Antila for example. The conclusion is: time gap on shorter tracks worth more than time on longer ones.
We could say that's fair, cause making big time gap on shorter track is harder to do than on the longer one, but that could be just one perspective. Other point of view could say that each curve of each track should be valued the same, so track length should not affect the points.

I expected this to happen on TS's (dede's) DIT ranking...and yeah, we got those situations there too. For example, look AntiSlider:
Etana 371 3:02.120
Hevonen 362 3:01.909

In my opinion, overall lap lime is more relevant, but playing for overall points enters more fun. If I extract overall points from overall time, then nobody could be ranked as long as he hasn't drive all the tracks and that could be boring.
Maybe I could split those two rankings to one for time and one for points, but I'm not sure if that's so necessary.

I am more interested in time difference but ratings are probably better be based on points. So both are useful.

I just hope there would be more players driving with antislider. I don't have time to learn other cars specially now that I am still stuck with keyboard.

I don't know if you are supposed to use brake with antislider but I don't because for some reason its almost impossible to me with keyboard! Thats why I cant even practice F1-Premium until I get back home to my gamepad.

Well, bigger number of players will not have influence on your rating. We just need 1 top player (dede, tijny or Mike Nike) to set 1 good lap time per each track with every car. Your rating is based only on the first (pace) driver, not on others. But, sure, it's always good to see more players around.

At first, you need to know that you can't find better controller for the TS than keyboard. All top players using it. So, gamepad will not make you a better driver for sure. The main reason is that on gamepad you have to use 1 finger for left and right which is really bad, cause you're losing some time while switching that finger from one button on another. On keyboard you don't have that problem, cause there you have reserved 2 fingers for 2 keys. It makes you much faster while driving trough tight and fast curves.
About AntiSlider - yeah, in some specific narrow curves it's good to use brake. But, for that technique you 'll need a lot of practice. I'm using brake very often with it while I'm hunting a records, but in the race it's very risky, cause it can easily make you overslide and lose your position.

Yeah, keyboard is what the game is probably designed for but at least I can break with gamepad. You can't drive those F1-cars without brake. Maybe its because with kb I use left hand to accelerate/break and with pad I use right hand? hmmm, maybe I learn to master this game someday if I just have enough time to practice. 8)

And I know my rating won't improve with other drivers but it would still be nice to compare/compete AntiSlider times with more players. Although I don't think I can improve my times anymore with this driving style. At least feels that way today.

power79, you changed your profile. The ranking is based on stable profiles, so we do not recommend you to change them.
You need to know that using the same nick doesn't mean using the same profile.
Each profile has it's own hash (code), so every player has its own unique one even when his nick and car colors are the same as nick and colors of some other driver.
Your profiles are saved in ...\Turbo Sliders\data folder - file name: players.da2
If you open it with the notepad, you 'll see what I'm saying. One profile looks like this:
Test Driver 1
57135884 2 250 250 0 1 0 0 250 250 250 0 0 7489932e 928b8bbd

In order to play with the same profile on different PCs, you always need to copy that file (or just name and hash of that profile from the text) to all of those PCs. Otherwise, anyone could use your nick and drive records for you.
If you already deleted your old nick, try to save the new one at least, and always play with it. You can change car colors whenever you want, cause colors aren't part of the profile's hash, but don't ever delete that profile. After you delete it, every next created will be different one.
I 'll probably be able to merge (combine) all your lap times to your new profile, but pls keep playing only with that one in the future.

Ok. Sorry. Current profile is my real original one that I created. Earlier one was temporary for my laptop. I wasn't planning driving any network races with it, but then came this fun contest.

And my AntiSlider races are probably over for now, because I noticed that my F1 driving was way off after driving with AntiSlider so much so I need to concentrate to that now. So if it is much trouble then no need to merge lap times.

I'm amazed this game still has a (somewhat?) active community. Haven't been playing for at least 6 years, but i may give this one a go :)
